In 1926 Antonio and Rosa De Rosa immigrated to East Chicago Indiana. Coming from a long
line of merchants of pasta olive oil wine and coffee. Having much success with the large
Italian community the De Rosa's became a well-known name.
Later they returned to their small town of Montedecoro outside of Naples. In this town
their oldest son Clemente De Rosa was raised. He returned to the states in 1946 and
joined his father and mother in the business. At this time Clemente introduced Greek
and Yugoslavian foods to accommodate the changing community. As the ethnic community
grew so did the De Rosa Imports.
After relocating to Griffith,In De Rosa Imports branched into Hungarian, Turkish, and Bulgarian
foods. Now the business is owned by Anthony De Rosa Clemente's son who also
introduced a variety of new products and an expansion of the coffees and foods available to
all of the United States and the world via this web site.
